In this art piece two opposite professions collide: the cleaners and the artists. The spectator can see an exploding trash can with shadow casted from the explosion making the sentence “is dit kunst of mag het weg?” (is this art or can it be thrown away?). This moment in time was captured and turned into an installation. The moment of creating something truly new (art) or is it something that has no value at all (trash).
The artists imagine a cleaner facing this question everyday at an art academy. In an art academy students are constantly trying to redefine what art can be and as a result making a lot of trash. The cleaners eventually are forced to ask themselves : Is dit kunst of mag het weg? Therefore they determine what stays.
